It helps that I have worked with Amy Abbott for years, and we understand each other easily, without needing a lot of explanations. Amy asked me to make the cover for her latest book, a gathering of short stories written for her column, “The Raven Lunatic,” which was to be called, “A Piece of Her Mind.” Immediately, an image sprang into my brain of this raven missing a piece of his skull, looking slightly wary and wise. The trickiest part of it all was to find the right typeface and background wallpaper look to finish it off.
If it is true that we choose a book by its cover, I would like to think my contribution to that helps to bring a lot of buyers for my writer friend.
